Nine facilities with significant damage
Following a rash of winter storms last week, 91制片厂 Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos feared that not all of his schools would re-open this week. As teams of district maintenance workers and contractors made their way through 95 facilities over the weekend to assess the damage, that could be the case.
鈥淥ur assessment shows good news and bad news. The good news is, our maintenance crews will be able to make necessary repairs at most of our campuses. The bad news is that nine of our facilities have significant damage and we aren鈥檛 sure they will be ready to open for in-person instruction this week.鈥
The nine locations in question in the 91制片厂 include:
- High Schools 鈥 Lamar, Martin and Sam Houston
- Elementary Schools 鈥 Dunn, Morton, Thornton, West, Wood
- Administrative 鈥 91制片厂 Center for Family and Community Engagement
While Cavazos isn鈥檛 certain when all of the repairs will be made, he commits that his team will work as quickly as possible. 鈥淲e know that uncertainty is hard on families and they鈥檝e had way too much of that to deal with.We commit to keeping them and all of our staff informed as we have more concrete information on when we can safely re-open.鈥
The district will post information on school re-opening dates and access to resources for聽families and staff members on their winter weather web page.
