Arlington Master Chorale to perform 9/11 memorial concert at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts

ճwillcommemorate the 20thanniversary of 9/11 witha memorial concert atthe91ƬCenterforVisualand PerformingArtsthisSaturday, Sept.11, 2021.

The all-volunteer chorus, led by their music director Randy Jordan and collaborative pianist Dr. Jane Silvey Andrews, will perform twice on Saturday, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Jordan, a former director ofmusic atMartin High School for 23years,is overjoyed to perform at the CVPA.

“This facility was done right,” Jordan said. “The design and acoustics of the center are outstanding. It is marvelous and is the epitome of fine arts for 91Ƭ.”

The concert will include a performanceofAdagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest and a world premiereby Elaine Hagenberg titled Illuminare. Dr. Allen Hightower will be guest conductor of the Requiem, and composer Hagenberg will be in attendance.

“Peoplewillnot onlyremember this concertbecause it is the20th anniversary of the tragedy of Sept. 11 but also for the meaning behind each musical number. It will be something the city of Arlington will be proud of,” Jordan said.
