We’re one week into the new school year, and 91Ƭ is in full swing with academics, athletics, fine arts and specialized programs to meet the needs and interests of every student. Are you ready for your child to jump into the school year but haven’t been able to get them registered yet? Don’t worry. We’ve got the perfect opportunity for you – Operation Registration.
Operation Registration is a district and campus-based initiative to connect and engage with families who have not registered their children for school by mid-August. The campaign began in 2020 to help parents and students that might have had difficulty registering due to the many implications of COVID-19. Despite the effects of the pandemic, we know there may be other challenges to successfully register your child, whether it’s language barriers or vaccination records. Whatever your situation may be, we’re here to help.
Through on-campus events, phone calls, emails and home visits, campus staff can clearly communicate the importance of registering for the school year. Many families are not aware of registration and enrollment changes, and it is the goal to not only make parents aware of the changes but also help them through so we can get students in class and ready to learn.
“Getting students back in schools today is important for their acceleration to the next level,” said innovative programming director Alison Larance. “Last year brought a lot of challenges no one foresaw, so providing extra support to these students academically, emotionally and socially is critical to how they pivot during this school year.”
“We go the extra mile to find these families and get them registered now, because we know learning extends beyond today. Their success moving forward depends on them receiving a great education in the classroom.”
Larance also believes these efforts increase parent engagement and strengthens the home-to-school connection throughout the year. Home visits help staff interact with families to further understand whether the student faces any barriers and if there is any specific assistance they can provide.
