History
J.L Hill Elementary opened in the Fall of 1968 and was the 16th elementary school in Arlington. Â Hill was named in honor of Mr. James Lee Hill, who had been the principal at Kooken Elementary School on Center Street for 27 years until he retired in 1964. Â Hill's first principal, Mr. H.T Peacock, along with a committee of teachers chose the Scottish Terrier to be the Highlander mascot and the school colors to be green and gold. Â The principals, staff and parents of Hill have started and carried on the great traditions that make us proud to be a part of the Highlander Nation.
