February 2017 construction update
Bond-related construction projects are underway throughout the district, and more will begin soon.
Below are details about the projects currently underway.
For construction projects at occupied schools, student safety is always paramount. All tasks are completed either when school is not in session – in the evenings or on weekends – or in cordoned-off areas. While school is in session, areas of the building under renovation are locked or walled-off. Students do not have access to those areas, and construction workers are only permitted in construction areas. Construction workers are also required to pass a background check before working at any AISD campus.
Anderson Elementary
Construction at Anderson Elementary began Nov. 28, 2016, and is adding two STEM labs, a strings room and a security vestibule.
Renovations to add the STEM labs and strings room are currently underway. The new flooring is now in and millwork will come soon. Work on the security vestibule started in January with floor demolition at the end of the month. New storefront was installed shortly after.
A second wave of bond construction will come in 2019 and include a series of life-cycle and deficiency upgrades.
The current projects are being managed by W.B. Kibler Construction, following plans designed by Hahnfeld Hoffer and Stanford.

The school building is receiving extensive renovations to enhance the fine arts and dual language programming. The renovations are providing state-of-the-art fine arts spaces like strings rooms, piano practice rooms, drama space and a dance studio. In addition, adjustments are being made to ensure there are enough classrooms so that each class – or cohort – can spend half the day in an English-speaking classroom and half the day in a Spanish-speaking classroom.
